Stainless ferritic chrome steel<\/strong><\/p>\n

Production share of approx. 14 % worldwide.<\/p>\n

Processing characteristics:<\/strong>
Good polishability, deep-drawability and pliability. Due to the ferritic microstructure, good resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Corrosion resistant to media with low aggressiveness, such as natural water and solvents, and sufficient for indoor applications.<\/p>\n

Applications:<\/strong>

Stainless austenitic steel<\/strong><\/p>\n

Production share of approx. 33 % worldwide and thus the most processed stainless steel alloy.<\/p>\n

Processing characteristics:
<\/strong>Stainless steel 1.4301, also known as V2A, is one of the most commonly used stainless steels due to its good workability (welding, cold forming and polishing). The austenitic chromium-nickel steel has a high corrosion resistance to natural environmental media and non-polluted atmospheres due to the nickel content. Due to its very low carbon content, the stainless steel 1.4301 is suitable for welding sheet thicknesses up to 5 mm even without subsequent heat treatment. However, the steel is susceptible to intergranular corrosion after welding or heat treatment.<\/p>\n

Stainless austenitic steel<\/strong><\/p>\n

Processing characteristics:<\/strong>
Due to its low carbon content, stainless steel 1.4307 is more resistant to intergranular corrosion than e.g. 1.4301 and is well suited for use in natural environmental media. The material has replaced the titanium-stabilised material 1.4541 in some applications; especially because of the better surface for mechanical polishing and electropolishing.<\/p>\n

Stainless austenitic steel<\/strong><\/p>\n

Processing characteristics:
<\/strong>Excellent corrosion resistance in natural, urban and industrial environments. In very aggressive conditions with chlorine, salt or acid concentrations, higher alloy materials should be used. The material is very well suited for cold forming and is often used when strength at high temperatures is required. But the material 1.4571 is not polishable.<\/p>\n
